When before the Court, Mary .Lindsay -stated that although she mistook' Lord Weardale for Mr Asquitli,' she was -not prepared to apologise, because though Lord Weardale had not so much power to torture women, he was equally blameworthy . Men torturing women in the twentieth century'ought to be thrashed. In reply to the Magistrate, who pointed out that Lord .Weardale was an old man, accused said: "AH the more shame 1"
A CHURCH BURNED
(Received Feb. 27, 9 a.m.) , ' . LONDON Feb. 26. v 'Suffragettes, using inflammable liquid a.nd explosives, burned the East Lothian parish church of Whitekirk, erected in 1297, and containing priceleas furniture. Its historic Bible was destroyed. Enormous slabs of stone were dislodged and shattered.
