TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Masterton Technical School was held last evening, thero being present Messrs! W. EL Jackson (chairanan,) C.'*E. Daniell; H. J. O'Leary, J. M. .Coradine, E. Flanagan, A. E. Winzenberg, 0. N. 0. Pragnell, E. H. Waddington, J. W; Blaekman and J. T. M. Hornsby (director). . THE ANNUAL REPORT.
In formally moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, Mr Jackson said it again gave him pleasure to refer'to the year's work, which, from every point of view, had been most satisfactory. The attendance for the year was remarkably good, when the many circumstances which militate againat the attendance at a night institution were taken into consideration. He complimented tho teachers on the success which attended the year's work, and the appointment some time ago of Mr J. T. Mi Hornsby to the position of secretary-, director of the school was a matter for congratulation. The school depended largely on the Trust Lands Trust and tho Masterfcon Borough Council, and ho felt sure that any further developments that might be decided upon in the future would have the support of these bodies. The annual balance-sheet showed the finances of the school to be in a satisfactory condition. It must, of course, be understood ihat when such email, fees are charged i-f would her impossible,to complete tho velar's work with a large credit balance in hand. ' '
Mr 0. E. "Daniell .in seconding the motion/said ho would like to see technical .education in. Masterton more availed of by tilio young people of the town. It was, however, gratifying that the year's work was attended by siich satisfactory results. He looked forward to another good year for the school; Mr 0. N. C. Pragnell, in supporting the motion, congratulated the managers on. the result of the year's work. Mr J. M. •Coradino said he felt convinced that the time wag not far distant when the technical education would be extended to day classes, as it seemed- to him that the work of the night classes had reached its limit. With day clauses, further branches of education might be introduced. "He did not consider "thai, the financial aspect would prove a bar to such development. Mr H. J. G'Leary, in speaking to the report, regretted that the meet- 1 ing was not mpre largely attended. It was gratifying that the year's work had been attended by such>satisfactory resirilts. " The motion was put to the meeting and carried unanimously.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The chairman announced that Mr E. Fei;;t, who had been a member of the Board of Management. for many years, had signified his intention of retiring, and Mr "*O. N. C. Pragnell moved that Messrs W; H. Jackson, C. E. Daniell, H. ,T. O'Leary, and J. M. Coradino be re-elected to the Board of Management. Messrs E. IT. Waddinjtfon, E.'Flanagan, and .T. W Blackmail being nominated, it was decided to hold a ballot 'for the election of.fivo managers. On a poll, being taken, the following managers were elected : Messrs W. H. jacksen, 0. E. Daniell, J. M. Coradine, H. J. O'Leary and J. W.- Blackman.
