(Received Last Night, 10.25 o'clock.) SYDNEY, February 26;' Tho strike developments anticipate ed to-day did not eventuate, and? the' position so far as a settlement is concerned is uncfianged, or has reached a deadlocks The only announcement vouchsafed by the Cabinet Committee was that nothing was contemplated to'day. Since his return from New Zealand, the Hon. W. A. Holman declined press interviews, awl requires that inquiries be made per messen-

I Mr Estell, Minister of Labwar, departed this "afternoon for Walesend to attend a banquet in his honour. The butchers and strikers' representatives ai'o holding frequent t meetings, but apparently they get no nearer a solution. it is reported that a movement is afoot amongst 'the carcase butchers to revert to the slaughtermen's award rates of £4. 5s instead of £6, as has recently been paid. Such a move would prove fatal to the Government's efforts to bring the masters and men together in conference. The men, while confident, declare their willingness to confer. At tho Homo Bush' sales the offerings were small and the attendance very limited, the only butchers operating being tho suburban and country butchers. The supplies at the various depots are steadily increasing, while another depot was opened at Manly. Fish, eggs and other dairy produce are more plentiful and prices have eased somewhat! A number of strikers have departed for Queensland. It is understood that Mr Holman lias advised the butchers to resume under the old conditions, and seek redress by constitutional means. In the event of the acceptance of this advice - work will be immediately resumed. A decision is expected to-night.
