WELLINGTON, Last Night.
The £•?. D. C. Bates, of the Meteorological office, last evening wired as follow*:
The barometer is lowest off East Cape, but has risen considerably elsewhere, the winds changing by west to south and south-east, and have cooled. The winds are high and squally and a cool change has taken place, and rain has fallen jn ''many parts. Present indications are for strong south-west to south-east winds, with cool changeable and showery weather, the barometer rising and probably very high in a day or two.
