Arrangements have been completed for tho Rifle Championship meeting which commences at Trentham tomorrow, and will conclude with the firing-off of tho King!'a Belt on the Thursday afternoon following. ihe number of entries is larger than for tho past two or three years, but is not so large as it was four or five years ago, when it reached over 000. The number of competitors this \ear will probably rea-ch 350, including most or tho crack shots who have never missed a meeting for years.

W AIR Alt APA ASSOCIATION. Tho annual meeting of the Wairarapa Rifle Association was held on Monday evening last, when some fifty members were present. Sir Waltei Buchanan occupied the chair. The annual report and balance-sheet showed tho association to be in a satisfactory financial position. Some £74 had been on and the necessary repairs, etc., carried out. The splendid gathering this year rcpoke volumes for the progress of the association. The secretary submitted a rough statement, showing that tho present .meeting would be a success from a. financial point of view. Tho question of southern members Joeing able to arrive here earlier was discussed. Tho chairman (Sir W. C. •' Buchanan) said it would give him much pleasure to assist in bringing about an alteration in the time-table for that occasion if possible. Mr H. Marshall paid a deserved compliment to their secretary (Mr Webster) for the manner in which he had carried out libi duties. In appreciation of siach, he moved that the salary be raised by £5. Mr W. Rummer "seconded. In thanking those •present, Mr Webster said there were other matters which needed attention, first, and ho would, in accepting the bonus, be pleased to hand it over to the association towards erecting suit-* able accommodation for the secretary and his assistants on the range.— (Applause.) On the motion of Mr Kumijier, tho executive was empowered to erect a. suitable building on the range for the secretary at a cost of about £lO. On the motion of Mr J. R. King, seconded by Mr H. Marshall, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr A. Matthews for bin services as range officer. The health of Sir Walter Buchanan was-toasted enthusiastically, and the meeting, which was undoubtedly ono of the most enthusiastic, in the annals of the association, terminated: •
