SATURDAY MATCHES, I'ho Wairarapa Cricket Association continued tho championship series of matches on Saturday. The weather was ideal and the wickets in good playing order. Jn tho Masterton Ji v. Carlto'n A match the latter put up a lino stand, making 172 in tin? first innings. The chief contributors were \Y. Hoar 88, Styles .31, and Hatch 14. W. Hoar completely collared the bowling and gave an excellent exhibition. His drives were his best .strokes, 'while lie was also strong on leg hits. Form an 12 and 13 were the only other batsmen to reach double figures. In their second innings Masterton U lost six wickets for 79, Congdon 21 and Walker 22 being the double figure scorers.. In the Alasterton A v. Carlton B match the former's iirst innings realised 140 and Carlton replied with 125. For Alasterton E. Perry ■ 56, Blackmail 39 and Ci. Perry (not out) 22 were tho chief contributors, E. Perry played nice cricket, scoring all round the wicket, his score including eight fours. Blackmail's 39 was compiled by good forcible hatting. Carlton B .started badly, but a good stand by F. Welch and R. Moss put a. better complexion on things, and the innings closed with the side only 21 runs to the bad.
