(Received Dec. 8, 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 7. Mr Reginald McKenna, Homfe Secretary, speaking at the-, London Magistrates'\Club, forecasted a measure next session abolishing short sentences whohe possible. He stated that short' sentences should be avoided; they could do nobody any gdod, and were most expensive to the State. They were perfectly useless to the victim, and did not protect, society. Hardened , and determined criminals must get long sentences.
