Mr H. C. Robinson, solicitor, returned to Masterto.i last evening from a visit to Auckland.

Mr Anders Anderson, one of the pioneer settlers of Eketahuna, has refififaed from a' visit 'td Sweden (his native country), which he left forty years ag<i.

The death occurred at Lyttelton last W eek of Mr Henry Firmston, a former resident of Pahiatua, at the age of 81 years. The deceased was an uncle of Miss J. C. Firmston, of Masterton.

Mr S. H. Poole, accountant at the Bank of New Zealand, Carterton, lias received notica of hist promotion to be manager of the Bank at Takaka, Nelfion, and leaves for there almost immediately.

Mr Leon (Cohen, Wellington secretary of the Trinity College of Music London, has received advice from Mr Henry St. George, who has just completed his* tour of the Dominion, conducting practical examinations at the various centres, that he has awarded the Governor's medal, which goes to the best associate pianist in the Dominion, to Miss Amy Gilligan of oamant centre.

The death is announced by cable from England of Mrs Morison, relict of the late Mr Walter Morison, one of the early settlers in the Masterton district: , The deceased, who had attained the ripe age of 83 years, was 'a daughter of the. late Mr Charles Bruce; of B i cadland, Aberdeen shire, a well-known breeder of Shorthorn cattle. Mrs Morison, who went Home nine years ago, is survived by Mr C. B. Morison, K. 0., of Wellington ; Miss Morison, of Worksop Road, Masterton ; and Mrs 0. M. Gosset, wife of the Rev. Gosset, of ChristcEurch.
