MAIL SERVICES.
The announcement that the Government has accepted tenders for daily mail services between Eketaliuna and Pongaroa and Pahiatua and Pongaroa, will bo received with satisfaction by a large number of settlors. The Akitio County will now lie well catered for. The settlers at -both ends of the district will he brought into closer touch with the markets. # The Pahiatua people will have nothing to cotaplain about, seeing that their daily service is retained, while Eketahuna should be quite -satisfied
to be brought into direct communication with the backbloi'ks. Tho Postmaster-General has adopted tho only course open to him under the circumstances, and although the expense mayo bo somewhat heavier than before, the country will benefit in having the outlying districts brought closer to the seaboard.
