NEST ON A SHEEP'S BACK.
A well authenticated story of a starling's nest on a sheep's back comes from Buckland Brewer, near Bideford, on the authority of a Cardiff gentleman who had been on a visit there. During sheep shearing operations on Gournwood Farm, which is in the occupation of a Mr Cox, one of the shearers cut in half a young starling which was in a nest that had been built in the sheep's wool. The ■nest, which contained two other fledglings still alive, was composed of moss and twigs'. For some weeks previous to the shearing, the sheep, with others, had had the run of three fields near the farm.
