It is understood that an effort will be made in Carterton to shorten tfio route to Mount Holdsworth. during the coming summer months,, and that the' Government will be asked' to assist in; forming, a track' by way of the Maungaterere Valley. s The brethren- of the Masterton Lodge of Oddfellows, alangr with tHe Wellington District Officers,, pay a fraternal visit to-the Carterton Lodge, on Wednesday evening. There was a good attendance of members at the fortnightly meeting of Court Marquis of Normanby, JLOIF., on Monday evening, Bra H. Davis, 0.K.., presiding. A number of the brethren of the Greytown lodge were present,, and also the District officer-, who gave an interesting address on the business of the -.district, :».■ lisr»ied to very attentively. Two-"brothers were initiated into membership. At the conclusion, s% social' gathering was held*.
