MURDERER EXECUTED. A DRAMATIC SPEECH. (Received Last Night, 8.55 o'clock.} BRISBANE, Sept. 22. Ernest Austin, the farm labourer, who was found guilty of murdering a girl named Ivy Mitchell in June last, has been executed. Death was instantaneous. in a speech from the scaffold, Austin admitted th» justice of his punishment, adding that he did not know what he was doing when the tragedy was enacted. [The murder, which occurred at Samford, near Brisbane, created a. sensation. The body of the girl, who was only eleven years of age, was found in a clump of scrub, with her throat cut from ear to ear. |
