Ernest Austin, the farm labourer, who was found guilty of murdering a girl named Ivy Mitchell in June last, has been executed. Death was instantaneous. in a speech from the scaffold, Austin admitted th» justice of his punishment, adding that he did not know what he was doing when the tragedy was enacted.
