ADVERTISING MASTERTON.
The opening of the fishponds at Masterton on Saturday last, contemporaneous with the announcement that the track to Mt. Holdsworth is in excellent order, that the roads of the district are in splendid motoring condition, and that the weather is ideal, suggests the question of whether sufficient measures; are being taken to bring the attractions of this district before; the outside world. Candidly, we do not think that Masterton is well enough known as a holiday resort. We have striven as' a newspaper to advertise the resources of the district; but we are sorry s to say that our efforts have not received that endorsement by the resident community that we had expected. Nobody seems to realise the vahie of outside advertising. We have spent a lot of money on the Mt. Holdsworth track, in stocking our streams with trout, in beautifying our park and reserves; but we are content to leave it at that. We are like a mud-dle-headed tradesman who imports an up-to-date stack and neglects to let the public know that he has got it. If it pays the individxial to advertise, surely it must pay the community to do likewise.
