A SERIOUS CHARGE
MAN STRUCK WITH A .BOTTT.B OF WHISKY.

At Otauta-u yesterday,, jawcs Chambers, 35 years of age. was charged with assaulting Arehi'.iald McArthur and doing him grievous bodily harm. Tbo facts, as staftxl, are that accused was in the Oirauai store, when a Territorial who had been at camp came in with a betilo .of whisky in his pocket. The accused went to take the bottle, and Me Arthur, who was in charge of the store, ask-xl him to leave, which he.refused to do, and challenged anyone to remove him. McArthur approached the accused, who tstrucK him on the forehead with, the bottle of whisky, which, lie had in'his possession, inflict inn a nasty wound. Ho was committed for trial, bail being allowed.
