WELLINGTON WOOL SALES

Tlic following art* the reports ol Maste.rton lirms for the \Vt?llinti;ton wool sales, which wore held in. Wellington yesterday:— Messrs James Macintosh and Co. Messrs .Tamos 'Macintosh and Co. beg to report iliat the tnird wool sale for the season was held in the Concert Chamber, Town Hall, yesterday. There was a lull attendance of buyers present, representing English, Continental and American houses, while the local mills competed eagerly ior suitable lots. The wool generally was in lighter condition than is usual at this time of the year, but a large number of lots opened up very seedy. Our catalogue, consisted of a- good selection of medium and coarse wool, for which very satisfactory prices were obtained. Compared with the, January sale prices for super woo! barely held their own, owing to want of competition on the part of American buyers, while medium aud coarse sorts sold at a full id '» Lambs' wool, with the exception or Kuper, sold in buyers' favour. Pieces and bellies sold at late rates. We sold on account of Kumiaer Bros., 8 bales "hoggets lOid, 5 baies crossbred licggets lO.id- 33 bales coarse crossbred 9£d ; on account Mi T O'Rourke, 7 bales crossbred e-ves 10(1: on ae. Mr H. The wools shown were chiefly ,%V 30's quality, carrying a fair amount ol seed, but extremely light in condition for this time of the year, and i these descriptions, suitable for Bradford, met with a. great reception, and sold at -id to id per lb over our most sanguine expectations. Finer cpi<thties, -Hi's upwards, were in fair de- ! maud and sold at about last sale's j values. With, respect to lambs' wool I the Continental buyers were much in i evidence, and practically cleared the absolute top lots at from lid to !2d, seedy and medium lambs' wool sold at from 7£d to 10-kl. Pieces, bellies and locks were well competed for at late ruling rates, but those showing seed and -heavy in condition, were perhaps slightly easier. Taken right through, the sale wns an unqualified • success; and we must congratulate growers on the satisfactory prices ruling, which we consider are right up to prices ruling in London.
