"GET RICH QUICK WALLIXGFORD."

"Get Rich Quick Wallingford." the I enormously successful comedy which is to he *ta.ged here at the Town Hall on Monday next.by J. ;0. Williamson's Company of star comedians, was described hy a Christ church 'critic as "The host, hriglitest, breeziest, and and most amusing American Play which has ever been staged in that city." "It reminds one," said another critic, "of the late lamented 0. Henry's "Gentle Grafter" stories in that, while one's sympathy is. made to flow towards the swindler rather than towards the swindled; it is impossible to imagine any young person coming to any harm from seeing it." As a satire on the desire of 75 per cent, dividends and the gullibility of otherwise shrewd business men. it is very effective indeed. It is a clean and clever laughter-maker, with than an ordinary good farce. Perhap.s we have never seen here a farce-comedy at once so rapid in its action, so cramped with amusing incidents and played with, such infinite zest by a Company of clever players. The success achieved by "G-et Rich Quick Wallingford" in Wellington a.nd Christchurch l eclipses anything previously staged by the J. C. William-,, son Management, even the famous production of "Kismet" by the Oscar Asche Company only run for seven nights in each of those towns against a fortnight to packed houses l enjoyed by "Get Rich Quick Wallingford." Mr Fred Niblo, the star comedian of the organisation, presents Rufus Wallingford as a man of undoubted power and a very giant." His wonderful enthusiasm i.s infectious, and his art of persuasion simply exquisite. The changes in the man's .demeanour to meet any new position, his delicate wheedling of the doubtful "Battleslmrghers," and his haughty denunciation of them when they are suspicious is all faultlessly presented., In the charming love scenes Mr Niblo never loses his hold upon the audience. To play isuchi scenes in the midst of such comedy i.s not easy, and the lightness of his touch is the proof of his clear sightedness. Positively only one performance of Wallingford can be given, for which, the plans will be opened at the Dresden on Fridav next at 8 o'clock and a queue will ho folined from 7. 30 a.m. The Scenes and Effects will arrive here on Friday next.
