ORGAN RECITAL

IX ST. MATTHEW'S CHURCH. The second of the series of orgair recitals' by Mr C. Spencer Compton, of St. Matthew's Church, Masterton, was given last evening in the prosenco of a crowded audience. Mr; Compton was heard at his best in sow oral renderings which were greatly, appreciated by those present. During the evening solos were sung by Miss Vera Edwards, Messrs R. J. Young and H. F. Green, Anthems rendered by St. Matthew's choir were also highly appreciated. The programme was as follows: Overture to ''William Tell" (Rossini); Barcarole, from 4th Cbnterto (Sterndale Bennett); vocal solo, "Arm, Arm, Ye Brave" from "Judas Maccabeus" (Handel), Mr R. '"J. Young; "Pilgrim's Song of Hope" (Batiste); "Spring Song" (Hollins); anthem,; "As Pants the Heart" from "The Crucifixion" (Spohr), St. Matthew'* Choir (soloist, Miss Vera Edwards); (a) The Curfew (Horsman), (b) Daybreak (Spinney); vocal solo, "If WitK All Your Hearts," from "Elijah". (Mendelssohn), Mr H. F. Green;' march, from "Rienzi" (Wagner);: vocal duet, "Crossing the Bar," Tennyson (Lohr), Messrs H. F. Green and R. J..
