N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS. (Bv Telexjrci.pli.—l'ress Association.) WANGANUI, Last Night. The New Zealand Swimming Championship meeting was opened to-day, the day's results being as follow: — 100 Yards Championship.—First heat: A. O'Hara (Waitemata), 1; G. Seymour (Hawke's Bay), 2; P. Fankuch (Blenheim), 3. Muller (Wanganui) also started. Seymour got the best of the start, but was .soon overhauled by O'Hara, who won by a touch, Pfankuch being six feet away. Time, 67 2-osec. Second heat: M. Champion (Auckland), 1; C. Atkinson (Opawa), 2; H. Stevenson (Hawke's Bay), 3. Davy (South Canterbury) also started. —Won easily with something in hand in 61 l-ssoc, which is two seconds inside the New Zealand record. Third heat: C. Wilson (Waitemata), 1; K. Ilea I y (Wellington), 2. Only starters. Wilson won as he liked. Time, 6-1 2-osec. Fourth heat: C. Brice (Wellington), 1; F. Bridges (Hawke's Bay), 2; Armstrong (Wanganui), 3. Armstrong got off badly and could not make lip the leeway. A good finish eventuated between Brice and Bridges, the former getting the verdict by a touch. Time, 6o 1-5 sec.
