The annual <rat.heri.iiK in coime-clion 'with the Wairarapa Caledonian Kociloty wa.s held on the Mastert-on Park •Ov-al yesterday, The weather was ! fme though threatening in the niorn'ine-' and a slight shower of rain fell I late in the <luy. The. attendance of the public was, as usual, very largo, visitors being present from all parts of the district. The .arrangements were, complete in every detail, and the events were got off well to time. One or two incidents (notably the unfortunate shooting of the. starter through the hand) somewhat marred the proceedings, but, altogether, the function Avas highly successful. A feature of the gathering was the parade of the Pipe Band, which wa,s in excellent form. The first prize for the best-kept uniform in the band wa» won bv Pipe-Major Pea.rswi. with Pipers W. Sutherland, .and McTCcnzio -next in order. The .succial nri'/e presented hy the Chief of the. Society for most points in blip piping events was won by Piper McKay.
