THE LATE MR HOLMES.
FUNERAL OBSEQUIES.
The mortal remains of the late Mr •Henry H. Holmes wfere interred in the Masterton Cemetery yesterday afternoon. The high respect in which the deceased was held in the community was demonstrated by the huge concourse of settlers and townspeople who paid a last tribute to his memory. The coffin was covered with beautiful wreaths and crosses. The ceremony at the grave was performed by the Rev. H. Watson. .Mr E. C. Holmes (a nephew) and several old servants of the deceased acted as pall-bearers. The late Mr Holmes was the son of tit© late E. Carleton Holmes, Esq., of Brookfield, Arundel, Sussex, who was for many years a prominent \ solicitor of Bedford Row, London. The deceased was educated at Hailebury, Hertfordshire. He leaves a widow, two sons and one daughter.
