WEDDING.
COMPTON—G R AIL* AT
A wedding in which a good deal of local interest was manifested , was celebrated in Knox Church yesterday, when Mr William Compton, son of Mr Thomas Compton, of Upper Fernridge, was married to Miss Katherine Olive Graham, eighth daughter of Mrs P. W. Graham, of South Road, Masterton. The bride was attired in a cream silk chiffon taffeta princess robe, with the customary orange blossoms. The chief bridesmaid was Miss Chrissie Graham, (sister of the bride), who wore a brown silk dress, with white chiffon liat trimmed with silk, and carried a shepherd's crook. The other bridesmaids were Misses Ivy Graham (sister of the bride), and Iris Compton (sister of the bridegroom), who wore cream serge princess robes—the skirts of which were prettily pleated—and white felt hats, and each carried a Bible. MiFrank Daysh was best man, and the bride was given away by lier brother, Mr Fred Graham. The Rev. Bain Macdonald was the officiating clergyman. A reception was held subsequently, at the residence of the bride's mother, where a largo number of guests were entertained The happy couple left by the afternoon train for Wellington, whore they will spend the honeymoon. The bride's travelling dress was a brown tailor-made costume, with a pretty purple hat to match. The presents received by Mr and Mrs Compton testified to the esteem in which they arc held by a large circle of friends.
