METEOROLOGICAL.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 15. The Rev. D. C. Bates states a westerly area of low pressure of very unsteady tvpe has prevailed in the, South for a week and stormy and changeable weather has been experienced in the far South, and at times farther North westerly winds have been especially boisterous in Cook and Foveaux Straits seas have been heavy on the West Coast, and heavy rain has fallen. No information has been received to-day from sauth of Kaikonra and Cape Foulwind.
Present indications are for southerly winds strong to gale generally with cold and showery weather, rain heai'y on West Coast seas, very heavy on West Coast, and increasing southward ot East Cape.
Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at the Upper Plain for the 24 hours preceding 9 a.m. on Friday was 16 points.
