MONTHLY MEETING. . I*' The monthly meeting of the terton School Committee was held list night. Present— Messrs R. Brown (cbirman), Carpenter, Thompson, Townsend, O'Lcary, Chapman, and Hendry. The secretary ivportpd the books had heen trade up and posted to .Wellington for audit. Tiiey weresent down on the 2nd lusfe., and had not vet been returned. The secretary reported he had received, no replies from the Board to recent letters. It was resolved that.the' secretary write to the Education Board ard ask for a reply to correspondence: The Headmaster's report was read as follows: Attendance. Main School, roll 591, average attendance 552, percentage of attendance 93; Side School 170, 155, 9i; Secondary Classes, 67, 62, 93. A highly satisfactory record of attendance for the month has been made in all three departments. The pupils whose class were dealt with last month by the Board's trurant officer have made full attendances for the month. The accompanying absentee report contains only town names.Two of the pupil teachers have been absent for one or two days through illness. The contractor has delivered the supply of firewood arranged for, and I have pleasure in reporting that it is highly satisfactory in regard to both , quality and. measurement,
Genera] satisfaction was at high percentage of attendances at the schc2ll' ,; . , ' .In respect to the visit of the Governor, it was arranged for the secretary to ascertain the time the Governor was expected to arrive and to notify the' committee with a view to receiving the Governor at the school if convenient to him to attend. The firewood contract was for payment, twelve cqrds at 30s. It was resolved to approach the Council with a view to getting.the sewer at tha side school put in order. ':, . Sundry accounts amounting to '£l6 5s 8d were passed for payment. The following were appointed as visiting members :r-Messrs Hendry, O'Leary and Perryi' , ■The secretary read a draft report for presentation to the annual meeting. ■• ;;. '': :' ; • ■•' The'subject matter was discussed, and with slight amendments approved. ,■..,■ It wap resolved to specially advertise the annual meeting and take steps to secure, 1 a good attendance of parents and "uardians. -,
