MASTERTON HOMING PIGEON CLUB.
RACE,FROM PETONE. The Masterton Homing Pigeon Club flew its third bird race from Petone yesterday afternoon, when seven lofts were represented by twelve birds. The southerly weather proved disastrous to a great number of birds, and although they all got home before nightfall, only two got within the time limit. The performance of these two birds was exceedingly good, as as the weather on the Rimutaka mountains was thick enough to stop even an "old stager."
Mr J. Bradbury acted as judge, and the following is the result:— Mr W. Hoar's "Ginger," 950 yards per minute 1 Mr Joseph Dixon's "Timothy," 933 yauls per minute 2
Next Thursday the novel interval race frum Wellington will take place. This competition will finish the south racing for the season. The birds will oe hampered at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. On the same evening nominations will close for the secret novel race from Ormondville, which will take place three weeks later.
