OPENING OF PARLIAMENT,
SPEECH FROM THE THRONE. Received February 17, 10.45 a.m. LONDON, February 16. The King ■ attended and opened Parliament in state. The Speech from the Throne announced that owing to the adoption of an pensions system and an increase in the navy. <h?re wouTd Foe an excess of expenditure during" the coming vear. This would occupy serious attention, a-'d jjllow less time than usual for measures. Bills promised included an Irish Land Bill (brought over from last year), a Welsh Church Disestablishment and Disendowment 'Bill, and : measures providing f>r the better organisation of ths labour market by co-ordinated exchanges, regulati-g----the milk supply, regulating the hours of work in shops, the prevention of sweating, a law dealing with inebriates and an Old A Pensions Amendment Bill.
