CARLTON v. W.P.C.A.

The match between Carlton and W.F.C.A. was concluded on the Park Oval, yesterday afternoon, and resulted in a win for Carlton by 138 runs. With four wickets down for 83, Carlton resumed batting with Boyd (not out 9) and Munro. Both batsmen punished the bowJiag, Munro being partk'ilfarly severe on any loose stuff. The pair raised the total to 123 before Hall bowled Boyd, who had made 24, with an easy ball. Boyd's score included six S's. Moss joined Munro, and the field had another lively time, 150 being up before Smith .caught Moss off Welch. Moss had made 13, including four 3's. Munro continued to pile on the runs, but, with theexeeption of Wickens, .could .get no one to stay with him. The innings finally closed for 17.8. Munro was not out with 53 to Ms credit. He made some big hits, and also a number .of neat strokes. His score included four 4'a, eighth's, and two 2*s. This batsman has played three innings this season, his scores being 24, IS, and 53 not out, and it is to be regretted that he is leaving in a day or two to take up his residence in Wellington. Welch bowled remarkably well for the W.F.C.A.., taking iive wickets for 6 runs. W.F.C.A.., in the second innings, were disposed of for 62. Hall made 16 by hard hitting, while A. Caselberg played nicely for 15. Moss was practically unplayable. His analysis read—Overs 10J., maidens 6, runs 10, wickets 5. Waters got the remaining five wickets for 33 runs.
