TRUST LANDS TRUST.

* THE BUILDING LOAN. PROPOSAL CARRIED. A poll of the Trust Lands Trust voters was taken, yesterday, on the proDosal of the Trustees to borrow £IO,OOO for the erection of buildings on vacant trust lands. That very little interest was taken in the poll was evident from the fact that out of a total roll number of about 2,000, only 201 voters took the trouble to record their votes. There were three polling booths, but the majority of tho votes were recorded at the Drill Hall, and between the hours uf 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. The poll closed at 6 p.m., and half-an-hour later the returning officer (Mr A. Hathaway) announced the result as follows: — For the Against the InProposal. Proposal, formal. Drill Hal! 123 36 1 Kuripnni 19 10 1 Upper Plain 12 1 Totals 154 47 2 The proposal was declared carried by the returning officer, as the numbers of votes recorded in favour of the proposal exceeded three-fifths of the total number of votes polled as required by the Masterton Trust Lands Trust Empowering Act, 1905.
