Bruce road and another at Hastwell. Mr S. H. Rasmussen wrote requesting that the road drain in front of the gate leading to his property be cleaned out, and a culvert put in. Miller requested permission to erect a uiluing on the gravel reserve occupied by him at Mt. Bruce road, and in the event of the building being erected on the reserve, ha desired the council to either compensate him when ha ceases to occupy the reserve, or allow him to remove the building. It was resolved to inform Mr Miller that if he places a building on the reserve it must be entirely at his own risk, and no compensation can be paid, or permission given to remove it. Mr McDonald, sawmiller, Mt. Bruce road, attended the meeting and asked that a small bridge on the road near his mill be renewed, and otfered to contribute £5 towards the A cost. He also agreed to take out a license for his timber waggon. It was resolved to instruct the overseer to attend to tho re-building of the bridge as soon as the timber to be supplied by Mr McDonald is available. The overseer reported that he had had metal carted on to the Mangamahoe v o ad. The holes in Bowen road had been filled in by Mr Sheath as far as his mill, and by the council's men beyond this. Da'gg's road is now in fair order as far as Rutherford's. The Ihuraua Valley road needs the formation raised in several places. The Mt. Bruce road requires to be patched with metal, and water-tables cleared. The part of the road in Messrs Coradme and Whittaker's care is in fair order. It was decided to defer consideration of the h*avy traffic and motorcar by-laws until the January meetAn offer was made by Heckler Bros, to purchase the posts removed from the pens in the office yards, ""he matter was left in the hands of the chairman. The overseer was instructed to get the holes in the road between the Mauriceville railway station and the Muddy Bridge filled in aa soon as the weather is favourable. The clerk was instructed to apply to the cemetery trustees for a refund of the sum of £1 paid in error for a burial plot for a person who commit- ' ted suicide, the Cemeteries Act requiring such to be provided free.
