SPEECH BY MR J. REDMOND. CATTLE DRIVING NO CRIME. Received December 3, 8.13 a.m. LONDON, December 2. Mr John Redmond, chairman of the Nationalist party, speaking at Motherwell, said Ireland was in a state of profound peace, since cattledriving waa the only offence against the law, and that was not a crime. He denounced a conspiracy among the English newspapers to represent Ireland as being almost in a state of anarchy.

FURTHER CHARGES OF CATTLEDRIVING. JURY DISAGREE. Received December 4, 12.23 a.m. • LONDON, December 3. ' The jury at Dublin, yesterday, disagreed in the case against 26 Galvvay men for cattle-driving, despite Mr Justice Wright's emphasising the admission of cattle-driving for a whole day and the remark of Mr R. R. Clierry (Attorney-General) that no honest man could doubt that cattledriving was a criminal offence. INFLUENCE OF AN ARCHBISHOP. POLICE WITHDRAWN FROM TUAM. Received December 4,12.30 a.m. LONDON, December 3. The Archbishop of Tuam declaring that cattle-driving was illegal and immoral as a means of redress, the people of the archdiocese have desisted and yielded to the wishes of the police. The latter, in most cases, have been withdrawn from the districts in which cattle-driving has occurred. Mr Justice Wright at Dublin sentenced five men, who were convicted last week of cattle-driving, to four months' imprisoment.
