CARLTON A v. CARLTON B,^| The Wairarapa Cricket Association opened the season on Saturday. On the Park Oval No. 1 wicket Carlton A and B teams met. Carlton A won the toss and went in to bat. O'Leary and Waters were the first batsmen. At 17 Waters was caught off Aymes, and at 19 O'Leary was disposed of. Allen and carried the score to 54 before Isaacs was caught off Denby after compiling 21 in good style. T. Hoar and Allen hoisted 73 on the board before Denby bowled the latter, who had made 21 by good cricket. The next wicket fell at 75. Then Arthur Welch and Hoar became associated and carried the score to 101, at which total V. Williams bowled Hoar, who had made a vigorous 82. The Masterton A and B teams commenced a senior championship match on the Park Oval on Saturday afternoon. Prow hit vigorously for 21 before Galwey disposed of him by a clever catch off Baird. Crookenden did excellent work in the field for the B team, and saved a number of runs by his smart fielding.
