The following weather forecast was issued by Captain Edwin at 9 a.m. on Saturday for the subsequent 24 hours: — Wind.—Strong to gale from between east and south and south-west at most places northward of Napier, Taupo, and Raglan; strong to gale from the northward after 12 to 20 hours elsewhere. Barometer.—Fall, but rise after 16 hours all places north of Napter and New Plymouth; rise slowly but falling after ten hours elsewhere. Rain is probable northward of Na> pier, Taupo, and Manukau Heads, and also in the southern-most districts. Warning signal for south-westerly gale is exhibited at Capes Maria Van Diemen, Tiritiri, and East Cape, and for northerly gale will be shown after sunrise at Capes Campbell, Foulwind, Farewell Spit, and is now shown at Nugget Point. The rainfall at Rongokokako for the month of October was 12.62 inches. Rain fell on 25 days. During the month of October 10.49 inches of rain fell in Eketahuia. It rained on 18 days, A he heaviest fall being 1.49 on October 14th. Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at Upper Palin for the 24 hours up till 9 a.m. on Saturday was 3 points.
