EMULATING "STARLIGHT."

A YOUTHFUL DESPERADO. INSPIRED BY BUSHRANGING ' PICTURES. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 1. A youth of sixteen, named William Crombie, has been arrested on a charge of assaulting Richard Clarke, I a settler, at Drury, with intent to rob him. Crombie is alleged to have called on the latter and demanded money, producing a revolver. Mr Clarke closed with him, and secured the revolver. Crombie then decamped. Accused was also wanted on a charge of having stolen a horse at Helensville, and of having assaulted a lady at the Newmarket railway bridge, where he ako presented a revolver. Crombie recently witnessed an animated picture depicting the life of the bushranger, Starlight, and this seems to have made an impression on his youthful mind, and to have fired him with the ambition to emulate Starlight's deeds.
