CARLTON CRICKET CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the membersjjof the Carlton Cricket Club was held in the Occidental Hotel last evening. Mr W. Piatt, Vice-Presi-dsnt, occupied the chair, and there was an attendance of about fifteen members. In the annual report regret was expressed that the club had a dr. balance, but 'he amount was small, and as there was a splendid prospect of a large membership this year, it was hoped that the deficiency would soon be wiped out, and the club again, find itself in a satisfactory financial position. The committee pointed out the folly of endeavouring to run the club successfully, financially speaking, on the present subscriptions, and it was suggested that the subscriptions be raised to the level of the senior Saturday Clubs. Owing to the Factories Act being enforced this season, a number of the Club's senior players would not be I able to take part in Thursday cricket, and the annual meeting would be asked to consider the question of entering a team for the Saturday senior championship, as well as the Thursday championship. The club was again unfortunate in having a wet night for the annual social. In consequence of this, the attendance was not up to expectations, and the receipts barely covered the expenses. In the senior championship last season the A team played seven matches, four of which were won and three were lost, thus tieing with the Star A team for second place. The B team, which was not as strong as in former years, did not do so well. The senior batting average last year was won by Mr T. Prow, with Mr "J. O'Leary as runner up. Mr J. Waters headed the bowling average, and Mr E. Welch was runner up. Reference was made to Mr T. Flaws having resigned the position of secretary on account of his leaving the district, and the committee wish to place on record his valuable services to the club. The report was adopted. The balance sheet showed that the receipts for the year had been £26 15s 6d, and the expenditure (including last year's liabilities) £29 9s lid, leaving a dr. balance of £2 14s sd. The adoption of the balance sheet was held over pending an audit. The following new] members were elected: —Messrs F. Long, R. Munro, G. Isaacs, L. Boyd, J. Lyall and H. Ogier. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr J. O'Meara; President, Mr A. Hathaway; Vice-Presidents, Messrs W. Piatt, J. Dixon, A. C. Major, W. Cragg, H. Douglas, A. Matthews, T. Cresswell, A. Narby and Dr. Cook; Captain, Mr E. Welch; Vice-Captain, Mr F. P. Welch; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr F. P. Welch; Auditor, Mr A. J. Hathaway; General Committee, Messrs J. Wickens, A. Congdon, G. Isaacs, J. Waters, J. O'Leary, E. Collinge, T. Hoar, C. Owen and F. Long; Selection Committee, Messrs E. Collinge, J. Waters, G. Isaacs and the captains of the Thursday and Saturday teams; Delegates to Thursday Association, Messrs C. Owen, F. P. Welch and J. Waters, to Saturday Association, Messrs E. Collinge and A. Congdon. On tie motion of Mr Collinge/ seconded by Mr Isaacs, it was decided to enter a senior team for each of the Saturday and Thursday championships this season. Mr F. Long .announced that he would present a bat to the player who made the highest score during the first Cup match of the season. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Long. The ' subscription for the coming year was fixed at 15s, and it was decided not to allow any member to practice at the nets or play in matches unless his subscription was paid at the end of the calendar year. An amendment to raise the subscription to 20s was lost.
