MASTERTON RACING CLUB.

MEETING OF STEWARDS. The Stewards of the Masterton Racing Club met yesterday after noon. There were present:—Messrs C. F. Vallance (chairman)* R. Buick, .1. Cress, W. Piatt, A. J. Welch, A. G. Pilmer, J. lorns,. W. lorns, W. Cooper, D. Caselberg and C. H. Smith. Mr J. Ayers wrote asking for a refund of the amount„he had paid for accommodation at the oottage on the racecourse, which had not been reqnired. It was decided to re fund the sum of £l. Mr T. Ross wrote asking for a re fund of fees paid for the horse Matakokiri, in ha'ckevents, as the horse waa not elig'ble to compete in such events. Mr Boss added that he was rot aware that the horse was not eligible to compete. It was resolved to refund the fees paid. The Wellington Racing Club wrote stating that F. Howard, jockey, had been disqualified by the Auckland Raoing Club for six months. A letter was also reoeived from the Club stating that gentlemen riders' certificates had been issued to Jas. Chisholm, F. P. Vallance, vi. Buiok and A. G. Pilmer.

Mr H. Oole, the purchaser of the horse yards, at the recent, meeting, wrote asking that he should be allowed a sum for horses and vehicles that had been placed in the members' paddock, and whioh had ,no right to be there. It was deoided to allow Mr Cole the sum of £1 Is. , The secretary produced a balancesheet in connection with the late raoe meeting, which showed a profit of £345 18s lid. The receipts had been £2,072 17a (nominations £219, entries £l2, acceptances £lßl, totalisator £1,275 2s 6d, looseboxes and accommodation £6O, privileges £6l 2s 6d, grandstaud and saddling paddock £67 0s 6d, tea kiosk £37 9s 6d, racebooks £63 Is); expenditure £1,726 18a Id (stakes £1,250, Government tax on totalisator £lB3 13s 9d, printing and advertising £54 Is 7d). The secretary .reported that the outside gates had realised £59 10s more than the Club would have received for them if they had been soid by auction at the usual amount. The Club had benefited to the extent of £l2O 18s by retaining thejgatee. Mr H.gWeloh wrote thanking the Club for having elected him an honorary life member, uf the Club.
