ELECTRIC FIRE ALARMS.
TO BE INSTALLED IN MASTERTON. The Engineer reported to the meeting of the Masierton Borough Council, laat evening, that he had received permission from the Inspeotor of Telegraphs to erect wires for the purposes of eleotrio' fire alarms on the existing telephone posts, provided the wires are protected and an annual rent of £2 per mile paid to the Department. Mr Dobson suggested that the work of ereoting electric fire alarms be proceeded with at onoe, and that all the wires be brought to the present station via Chapel Street, in view of a permanent fire station being erected at an early date, on the site occupied by the present Fire Police Station. He also suggested that the Turncock's residenoe be connected with the telephone servioe, so that he may be communicated with promptly in case of fire. On the motiou of Oi Hoar, seoonded by Or Eton, it was decided to give effect to the recommendations of the Euglueer. and that the work of installing flro alarms be, proceeded with at onoe.
