MASTERTON STOCK SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows on their Masterton stock sale, held yesterday.—We had a fair yarding in sheep, principally hoggets offering. Only one line of fat ewes was penned. The demand for hoggets was good, but the reserves in most oases prevented sales being made under the hammer, the bulk of the trade being done privately, only one pen of the whole yarding failing to sell. In cattle we submitted all classes, including ox beef. The quality of the store oattle offered was only second rate, but eventually all were sold with the exoeptiun of two pens. Fat ewes made 18s 6d, hoggets ranged from 14s 9d to 16s 6d for best down to 19s to 9a lOd for uulls. Yearling battle (rough) made 30b, young steers were bid for up to £2 9a 6d and 2^ -year to 3-year steers £3 8s and £3 10s. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their fortnightly sale *t the Masterton yards on Wednesday. Owing to the rough weather on the preceding days, stock did not come forward in advertised numbers. There was a very fair entry of oattle, and most were disposed of. Only three lots of sheep were offered, all being cleared. Fat and forward wethers sold at 20s 6d, forward black-face ewes and wethers 15s lid, yearling heifers 38s, late calving heifers 725, small weaners 23s 6d, cows in calf 60s, good springing cows 85s to 110s, fat cows 100s to 105s, slip pigs 14s to 15s.
