OUR LONDON LETTER.

LONDON, June 29,

Mr Percy M Thomson, of Dune- ] din, arrived about a month ago. He is here partly on business and partly on pleasu e. He will pay visits to Berlin, Lucerne and l J aris, returning to Scotland and Oxford. He expects to leave in October, via America and Canada for New Zealand. .sirs liari ington Waters, arrived by the Schamhorst. She is a clever pianist, and when was in New Zealand, he adcised her to continue bur studies in that direc tion, which she will do at Stuttgart. Mrs P. C. Hansen, and her son, Mr G. Hansen, of Thames, arg here on private busineaa They have seen the Derby, and were at the launching of \,he Lncitania. They will spend a fortnight iu Glasgow, a week in Edinburgh, leaving via Leith for Denmark, where they will stay a month or two, returning afterwards to Portsmouth and Southsea. Mrs Robert and the Misses Brown ing, of Auckland, are spending a month with friends in Ireland. From there they go to Switzerland. Miss Shand, of Dunediu, has arrived here, and leaves shortly for Heidplburg to study music. Miss Shand is the daughter of Professor Shand, of Dunedin University. Madame Lilian Tree arrived on the 9th inst. She and her husband, Mr Charles Lund, have no present intention of leaving London. Mr A. Lubecki, of Auokland, late of Dunedin, has returned from a trip on the Continent. Mr Lubecki, who left New Zealand eighteen months ago, goes in about a month to Scotland. He ia uncertain when he will return to New Zealand.

Messrs George T.att and W. H. Mercer, of Auckland, came via Australia, China, Japan and Canada. They had a most journey, 'l'hey have just spent a week in Hastings, one of our prettiest Beaside resorts, which is Mr Tutt's native place. They will visit Scotland and Ireland, leaving in September for New Zealand, via France, Geiniany, Switzerland, Italy and Egypt.

Mr W. Quin, of Tapanui, is here on pleasure. Mr Quin, who is connected with the Tapanui Courier, is re-visitinj; England after an abenoe of »weuty years.

Mr F. E. Crombie, of Auckland, came by the Canadian-Australian route. He left Auckland in April, and joined the Mnheno at Suva. He had a very pleasant journey across Canada, coming by ihe Empress of Britain, from Quebec to Liverpool.

Dr. and Mrs T. Leslie Crooke, of Christcburch, are still here. Tney were present at the dedication of the Chapel of St. Michael and St. George, in St. Paul's Catnedral. Mrs Fox, of Palmerston North, is here, with her children, on pleasure, and will remain here several years. They leave shortlj for Cornwall.

Mr W. Wave, of who arrived ty the Gothic, visited his sons' estancia in the Argentine Republic on the way. He returns to New Zealand via Vancouver in July.

Mr, Mrs and Miss Pyeoroft, of Christchurch, are here. They will speed three months visiting Scotland and Ireland. They expeot to leave for New Zealand in December, spending some time in Australia.

Mr W. Grey and Miss Grey, of Wellington, came via Naples, touring through Italy and Prance. They had a very enjoyable trip and splendid weather. They will visit various parts of England, Ireland, and Wales, returning via San Franisoo in Octuber.

Mr 0. A% Richards, of Wairarapa, came via Suez, Marseilles and Calais. Mr Biohards has not made any definite plans yet, but will visit relatives and friendß and plaoes of interest. It is 50 years sinoe Mr Biohards was last in England.' Miss Li'.y Aulsebroob, of Auofeland, arrived by the Gothic on the 7ch inst. She is here to study voice production, under Signor Albert Bandegger, the well-known Italian master. Miss A. E. Barker, of Christchurch, arrived here via Naples and the Continent. She will visit Scotland, Ireland, Norway and Sweden, returning by the Orontes early in September. The Rev. Dr. Egan, of Auckland, arrived by the Gothic on the 7th inst. The Bev. gentleman is here on holiday for about a year after being over twenty years in Auckland. He received a handsome presentation on leaving that city. Mr J. T. Watkina, of Wellington, came home via Suez and the Continent, crossing the Alps by the St. Gotharj route. He will visit various parts'of England, and Scotland, returning early in August via Amerioa, leaving Vancouver on August 17th by the Maheno. Mrs Fowell Wptts, of Nelson, arrived by the Gothic, and is on a visit to her daughter, Mrs Sweet, of Dorset. Mrs (Canon) Johnston and Miss Johnston, of Auckland, are here on pleasure, and to visit old friends. Tbey lei!t New Zealand in February, 1905, and have been staying with relatives in Johannesburg. In July they go to Ireland, leaving for New Zealand in November. Mr and Mr Mrs W. P. Maspen, of Auckland, arrived by the Gothic on the 7th inn;. Mr Maspen, who iB a member of the Auckland Stock Exchange, ia hero for the benefit of his health. Sir ."Joseph Ward had an audience which lasted nearly an hour with the King, at Buckingham Palace, on the 14th inst.
