♦-. —• —* KING SISOWATH OP CAMBODIA, ARRIVES IN FRANCE. King Sisowatb of Cambodia, whose country is a French proteo torate, arrived at Marseilles in regal splendour, on June 12th. Ihe monarch ie paying an official visit to the Frenoh Government, and in tends to see something of the Colonial Exhibition at Marseilles, after which he ia going on to Paris, in [order to call en President Fallierea, His Majesty, who is travelling in state, is accompanied by a numerous retinue of Ministers, secretaries, dancing girls, native musicians, a bodyguard, and several ladies of the Court, who have been selected for their great personal beauty. Sisowatb. also brought with him six arge boxes FILLED WITH PRESENTS for the French President and Ministers. A special golden box, set with precious stones, is intended for M. Loubet, for whom the King has a warm affection. He has 200 boxes filled with luggage. He is fond of changing his dress frequently, and is said to have nearly as many uniforms as the German Kaieer. The port officials at Marseilles went on board the ship to welcome Si&owath. The Royal visitor received them on the main doek, surrounded by his Ministers and retain- j ers. He wore a smoking jacket, silk knee-breeches, and a sword, the hilt of WHICH WAS OF GOLD get with diamonds. His hat was of a bowler shape, the side looped up with a golden cockade, the colours of his kingdom being set out in precious stones. Near the potentate wore his three personal attendants. One carried a golden cigarette, oaae with the King's initials in diamonds, a second bore a match box set with J rubies, while a third carried a j go'.dpu apittoou for bis Majesty's ,exclusive use. When he demanded a cigarette, his faithful servunc i presented the oaee on bended kneea, and then theelave with the matchbox advanced and PROSTRATED HiMSE r .F ON THE DECK at the feet of his Royal master, while the latter (helped himself to a match. This performance was repeated anew every time Siaowath took it into his bead to command a fresh cigarette. The French visitors were invited to smoke, and the King himself applied a match to their cigarettes. Sisowath and his huge party afterwards went aßhore, and his Majesty spent the afternoon seeing the sights of the city in a motor oar, accompanied by the Perfect.
