MURRAY WATERS QUESTION. Reoeived April 17, 9.45 a.m. SYDNEY, April 17. An agreement has been arrived at unanimously by the representatives of New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia for settlement of the Murray waters difficulty. The limitation placed on the use of water by New South Wales pending the establishment of a system of water conservation works has been fixed at 220,000 cubic feet per minute, and Victoria is limited to 130,000 cubic feet. During the dry months these amounts are to be reduced. The volume of water iu the river channel at the eastern boundary of South Australia must not be reduced below 70,000 cubic feet per minute. NEW ZEALAND WHITE PINE. Reoeived April 17, 11.14 p.m. SYDNEY, April 17. At the first annual conference of co-operative dairy factory managers and secretaries, tho president, in referring to tho quality of the pine used in butter . boxes, said that New Zealand white pine commended itself as the most reliable wood for the purpose. He had to admit t hat the local pine failed to give the same results as New Zealand pine. ' "TWO-UP" SCHOOL RAID. Received April 17, 11.14 p.m. SYDNEY. April 17. SALE OF DRAUGHT STALLIONS Reoeived April 18, 12.15 a.m. SYDNEY, April 17. At the Royal Agricultural Show Colonel Robin was sold for 95 guineas, and Taieri Lad for 55 guineas. Both these horses were sold ou ncoount of Mr Grant, of Invercargill. Loobiel Hector fetched the record price of 143 guineas. DEATH OF- MR WILLIAM FARKER. Received April 18, 12.12 a.m. SYDNEY, April 18. Tho agricultural interests have sustained an almost irreparable ioes by the death of Mr William Farrer, tho Government wheat experimentalist. Mr Farror, who is known as the "Uurbank of Australia," devoted his life to breeding wheats of greater disease and drought resisting qualities. So valuable wore his researches in this direotion that the Indian Government official used to consult wth him on tho subject.
