SILVERSTREAM WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.

A comprehensive repoi't of the annual Dominion Conference of the Women's Institutes recently held at Dunedin, was g-iven by Mrs. Spackman, who presided at the August meeting- of the Silverstream Women's Institute. After speaking- of the many interesting- sidelights which always accompany such an occasion, Mrs. Spackman expressed her gratitude for the opportunity which had been g-iven her to attend the conference and she hoped that she would be able to pass on the knowledge and experience that she had gained. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded her. Mrs. Horne, of the Dominion Executive, then spoke briefly on some finance questions which had arisen at the conference. It was learned with pleasure that Mrs. Kitchen has been elected group convener of the Hutt Valley Institutes. The proceeds from the Bring-and Buy stall were donated to the Federation funds. During- the social hour a delicious afternoon tea was served by the host-

esses, Mesdames Mason, Davis, KLitson, Crosbie and Flanagan. As it was "members' afternoon" the programme was arranged by the members and a short sketch was played by Mesdames Pierard, Holcroft, Jones, Castle and Miss Mumby. Mrs. Chapman-Taylor then read an amusing- skit from "Punch" on the "Institutes," thus concluding a happy afternoon.
