The Clutha Presbytery.

The Clutha-Presbytery met at Milton on Wednesday, the 6th inst., whan there I were present the Eev. Mr Morton (Moderator pro tern.), and Mesßrs Currie, McDowall, Mason, Bandy and Hume (ministers), and Messrs Campbell, Clarke, Edwards, Currie and Eose (elders). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Marson, Smaill and Bobertson. The Eov Mr Durward was elected Moderator for the ensuing six months, but in his absence Mr Morton retained the chair. On the motion of Mr Hume, socondod by Mr Campbell, it was agreed to attend tho Presbytery's very sincere sympathy to Mr Peter Robertson, of PuOrua in the death of his son, Private Norman Bobertson.

It was agreed to consider at next {Presbytery the question of "Creeds in i relation to the question of Union," Mr Hume to open with a short paper. The Simultaneous Mission arranged for by the "Church Life and Work Committee," from August 31 to September 7, inclusive, was considered, and, on the motion of Mr McDowall' seconded by Mr Bandy, it was agreed to strongly urge congregations to take the matter up heartily. It was agreed to call for Home Mission Station Balance-sheets, and a committee consisting of Messrs Currie, McDowall, Campbell and Smaill was appointed with power to recommend the grants for next year, On the motion of Mr Clarke, seconded by Mr Eose, it was agreed to approve of the Assembly remit granting assistant ministers a seat in Presbytery. The following representatives to next Assembly to meet in Invercargill in November were appointed: Messrs Currie, Hume, McDowall, Durward, Morton, Mason and Bandy (ministers). The sessions of Balclutha, Kaitangata, Milburn, Owaka, Tokomairiro, and AVaitahuna were each asked to appoint delo-" gates. Tho Presbytery adjourned to meet at Balclutha on Friday, 10th October, at 10.45 a.m.
