INFLUTNZA EPIDEMIC.
MILITARY CAMPS. CLOSED TO NEW DRAFTS. Wellington, November 0. The military camps to-day were closed to ariy additional new drafts owing to tho fear of the influenza epidemic. This action shuts out tho Wellington men and portion of the South Island drafts. DOCTORS FOR AUCKLAND. Wellington, November 6. The Minister of Defence stated today that-in response to an appeal ten doctors have gono to Auckland, and three more would follow. Ho hoped also to release some dispensers at present in the camps.
CABLE STEAMER'S CHEW ATTACKED. Wellington, November (i. The Pacific Cable Company's steamer Iris, which has been repairing one of the Cook Strait cables, has arrived at Wellington. Thirty-nine members of the ship's company are down with influenza. Two developed acute pneumonia, and were removed to the hospital, RAVAGES IN LONDON. Influenza is still serious in London. Fifty-four were seized in tho streets and sent to the hospitals in 24 hours. Three hundred and eighty-nino were thus seized in 10 days. Three hundred and lift eon nurses in 10 metropolitan asylums and board hospitals have been stricken, Five hundred an deighty omnibus drivers and conductors are ill.
