SCHOOL CONCERT.

AT MILLERS FLAT. The annual concert given by the children in I lie Public Hall „| Millers Flat on Tuesday night marks the passing of another year of arduous school work and the commencement of six weeks' glorious liberty. In keeping with its predecessors the entertainment in every respect, was a distinct success, and from the point of view of merit reflects credit on the teachers, Mr Taylor- and Miss Patterson. The manner in which the various items Here performed was such that could only be accomplished by careful and constant rehearsal. The action songs and choruses were well rendered, and if any may be singled out for special mention it was the opening item in the second half in which a number of girls appeared in "Gypsie" costumes. The singing was good and the general effect was greatly enhanced by the introduction of a waltz by members of the party. The last item in the j opening halt', a chorus entitled "Froggio," was also an attractive one, two boys attired as "croakers" adding in no small measure to the enjoyment of the item. The- other action songs were "Jenny" and "Laundry Maids," both of which were greatly appreciated. Kocitations were given by Ellen McLoughlin, Kcuo Maitland, May Sheeny, Allan Topham, Phyllis Sheeny and .May Gilliand, the Lilliputian performers, ou each occasion, being loudly applauded. The remaining contributions were a piaofortc duet nicely rendered by Phyllis and Gladys Sheehy, a violin solo efficiently played by Mr Taylor and an exhibition of wand drill by the girls, their neat performance showing that this important part of the school curriculum is not being neglected. The accompaniments throughout were tastefully played by Miss Patterson. The attendance was large and the school funds should be substantially " augmented as a consequence. The dance held at the conclusion, of.. the concert was also a success. Mr Gilliand ably supplied the music.
