I The monthly meeting of the Waita-huna-School Committee was neld on Monday, 2nd inst., when there wer» present Messrs F. Ellis (chairman), Fuldseth, J. Sinclair, W. Byan, G Scott, and E. McCaw. The secretary reportod that all arrangements iin connection with the trip to St. Clair on Tuesday sth inst. were completed, but that the money collected would be insufficient to pay the children's fares. It was decided to make still i another effort to raise more money. A communication from tho Board was received, stating that new outbuilding would be erected for the lioys, and that those for the girli would be repaired, in connection with this the secretary sported that the Board's architect had visited the school and that the question of erecting a septic tank had been discussed, but the present decision was that there .was not sufficient fall, and it would not be advisable to carry out the scheme. He was, however, in favour of erecting the buildings on a sledge and placing them over a pit. The Committee favoured the scheme under certain conditions und instructed the secretary to write to the architect on the matter. The Chairman read a letter from the headmaster stating that he had sent in Jus resignation to the liducation Board and ,to the Superannuation Board, the resignation to take effect o n JUth April.—The chairman moved that the resignation be received with deep regret. Air Patrick had, he said, been headteacher of the school for nearly 127 years and had proved himself a mosi efficient teacher. The inspector's reports always compared favourably with those of any other teacher under the T.oard. He had also been an excellent citi/en, but no doubt the public would show us appreciation of his services later on. He would also move that a copy of this minute be sent to Mr Patricu. 'The motion was seconded by Mr Fufdseth and carried unanimously.
