ACOMMITTEiE TO BE APPOINTED. WRLUNCTON, August '2l. The Opposition has cvidenilv 'been sorely troubled over the <|iicsiion oi leadership, ami bho difficult v has not yet been solved. A unrling of thr party was held to-day at 5.30 p.iuj., and was fairly well attended. It was unanimously resolved to offer the leadership of the party to Sir •Joseph Ward. Sir .Joseph Ward thanked the members of the partv for the honoin they were desirous of conferring upon him, but he declined to ■accept the olH«c. It was then resolved to appoint a committee for th |m. - pose of carrying an tho business of the Opposition duritg the present session. This committee it is proposed io appoint at a meeting of the party to, be held later o n. The general opinion in the lobby seems to be that at a later date, tome time before J J arliament ends, Sir •Joseph Ward will bo prevailed upon to assuino the leadership.
