EGMONT BY-ELECTION

T3LTHAM, August 19. 'A meeting of Liberals will be held at Eltham to-night to select the Liberal candidate for the seat shortly to be vacated by the High Commissio-ner-elect (the Hon. T. Mackenzie). Thq Hon. D. 'Bucjdo will be present. The prospective candidates . a re:— Messrs E. Perrott'(Eltham), D. Hughes (Manaia), and I). L. Astburr (Mangatoki). The two last-named are farmers. Mr Astburv will probaWv be the selected candidate. Both Mr Wilkinson and Mr Dive will go to the poll as Government supporters.
