BEAUMONT PUBLIC HALL AND LIBRARY. (Own Correspondent.) The election ol officers the other evening resulted as follows :—Mr R. Wood, M.C.C., patron'; Mr G. 11. Crockett, president ;\ Messrs A. Stevenson and 'A. Thomson, vice-presidents; Mr It. Stevenson, scoretarv and treasurer ; Mr A. O'Keefe, librarian ; Messrs G. Welsh, J. H. Chalmers, L. Johnson, I). E. Johnstone, commit leir trustees for the site and building, Messrs It. Wood, It. Stevenson. J). I'\ Johnstone. A. P'Kccfe. and (!. Donaldson ; auditor, Mr A. Thomson. The matter of obtaining the title Jeitls, surveying, and sign writing was left in the hands of Mr Wood. A working bee was arranged to gravel approaches to the hall and already this lias been carried outMr Wood, who has advanced a considerable sum t« the building fund, intimated that he| desired no interest for the ensuing twelve months, and tho committee carried a hearty vote of thanks to him for His everincreasing generosity. A motion expressing the thanks and appreciation of tho committee of the services rendered as secretary and treasurer to the library bv Mr Thos. I'hillipps ivas also carried -with acclamation. The usual vote to the chair concluded a hearty meeting. - BALE OF WORK. On the 28th hist, a sale of work in aid of funds of the BeauimonWresbvterinn Church is to be held. The greatest enthusiasm prevails, and as it is the Ik;t affair of the kind the district has experienced, a huge success can now, as the time 'approaches, be safely prophesied. The workers ai'c many and willing and those in search of 'bargains such as tastefully d."signed hand-made household drapery cannot afford to lose the approaching opportunity shortly to be presented. Many metters of interest are on the boards, the only fear now being entertained is that the 28th will not be long enough and an extra day may b,i required.
