JUNIOR CADET CONTROL.

'l'he Minister of Defence (the Bon. J as. Allen) stated in the House this afternoon, in answer to a challenge from Mr Witty, that he has no intention whatever of taking the oontrol of the Junior Cadets away from lhe Education Department and putting it in the hands of the Defence Department. General Godley himself had distinctly declared that lie would not approve of such a change, and there was. no intention to attempt it, said the Minister.

Mr Witty disputed the correctness of tile Ministerial statement regarding Genoral Gc.uley's expressed opinion, but

Mr Allen intimated that it was correct. All that the General wanted was to be able to inspect the cadets at squad and company drill. Mr Witty : The General haß said that the time of the/ cadets under the teachers is lost, and that ithey are to come under the Defence Department. Mr Allen : Mv answer is correct. ■Mr Witty : It is misleading.
