MRS JOHN SCOTT. Our Waitahuna CorrespondenUwriies —'' It is with deep regret that 1 h a ve to ck'onicb tho death of Mrs John Scott, which occurred at her husband's residence on Thursday, 'Join, The deceased lady was a native of Londonderry, Ireland, and came to Melbourne in the beginning of in company with an uncle and his family 0 f sons and daughters, one of whom afterwards became Ml' Scou's first wife. She married Mr Samuel Abriin and some years later came with her husband to New Zealand and settled at Webherstones where they lived about twenty years. Mr Abrim being in [ailing health they removed to Duncdin where ho died leaving a large family for whom the mother acted a noble part. A'bout nine years ago she was married to Mr Scott to whom she has been a most faithful and devoted wife as well as a kind and faithful mother to his family. Mrs Scott was a woman of independent mind and a strong Christian character. Sh c was the possessor ot a living faith in hoiRedeemer, and recognised she. was a partner with Him in the work of the church. Her presence at the prayer meeting was always an inspiration. She leaves a family of two sons and six daughters all of whom an 1 married and kave families a nd doing well; four are in Dunedin, oncj in London, one in Sydney, one in jtfelboutne, and one in Wellington. The funeral services at the house and grave were conducted by the Rev. J. IS. Ponder, a very large number following the remains to the grave.
