[DAWBIENCE v. MILTON. The first match betwean the above dubs on the local links took place on Wednesday afternoon under very fair (weather conditions albeit there was a slight breeze which made the play a little difficult at times. The visiting team consisted of three ladies and four gentlemen who arrived by motor car about mid-day, and the match was started shortly after 2 o'olock. The result proved a win for the local players, only one of the Multon team succeeding, in 'gaming a " scalp." Follow ng ane the details : Blair beat McClyrnont, Smyth beat Brady, Arthur beat Dr. Sutherland, Moor o lost to Potter, Mrs 11., J. Thompson beat Mrs Hall, Mrs. Darton beat. Miss Ileid, Miss Smyth beat Mrs McGuirc. The visitors expressed them-, selves well pleased with the links and the various ' games were very enjoyable. The local lady members of the Club provided .afternoon tea, Llio new payilion proving a great convenience for the purpose.

At the conclusion of the match Mr Moore thanked tho members of the Milton Club for coming to Lawrence afoct giving them a game. Thoy were he said the first visiting team that had played on their links and he hoped that miore frequent matches with their neighbouring club would take place in the future. Mr McClynxont replied on behalf of the visitors, thanking the Lawrence club 'for the enjoyable gamo. Hearty cheers were then given for the ladies who had supplied the afternoon tea.

On Wednesday, .7th iiist., it is proposed to open the new club-house, and it is hoped that there will be a full muster of the mormbers of the Club. A combined stroke .foursome will be played during'the afternoon over one round of the course and it is desired thut members be in early attendance to 'admit of play commenciijg at as early an hour as possible. The following represents the preliminary drawing of partners, but members a ro particularly requested to note that partnerships and handicaps in the case of those whose partners as drawn may be unable to play will be ro-amvngod at the club-house on the day of play. :—Mrs H.
